OUR ORGANIZATION
Newcastle Baseball Club League (NBCL) is a nonprofit organization providing competitive baseball to the local community. NBCL is a PONY affiliated youth baseball league providing playing opportunities for youth in Newcastle, Renton, Issaquah, Newport Hills, The Highlands and surrounding areas. The league is divided into different levels based on a players age.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Newcastle Baseball Club League will strive to instill in the youth of our communities the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and a sense of teamwork so that they may become strong, healthy, well adjusted members of the community.
It is our mission as coaches and parents to provide a healthy atmosphere for our players, regardless of ability or experience to provide a positive and fun atmosphere in which to learn the positive aspects of baseball, sportsmanship and community.
OUR PROGRAM
LBC is affiliated with PONY baseball. The PONY baseball program was created for all players to be able to participate in baseball. We want to Protect Our Nation's Youth as they grow into young men and women and leaders of tomorrow. PONY is a community based program for everyone in the family to enjoy.
LEVELS OF PLAY
Shetland
Ages 4-6
Focuses on instruction of the beginning player. Players learn the fundamentals of baseball. Game play is based on the player using a batting tee. A Safe-soft ball is used for safety. All team members bat and play the field each inning. No game score or standings are kept. When possible, players are assigned to teams with their schoolmates. Each player receives a baseball jersey and a hat.
Pinto
Ages 7-8
Players continue to learn the basic fundamentals of baseball with an introduction to more advanced concepts. A modified pitching structure is used until either a strikeout is recorded or four balls are delivered. Season is split between a pitching machine and player pitch. There are no walks. A Safe-soft ball is used for safety. The score is kept during games. When possible, players are assigned to teams with their schoolmates. Each player receives a baseball jersey and a hat.
Mustang
Ages 9-10
Players begin training in the complete game of baseball. Games are played with regulation baseballs, base stealing is permitted; leadoffs, and pitching from the stretch are introduced. Teams are formed by a draft. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division . Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played. There is an end of season tournament. Players may try out for the summer tournament team.
Bronco
Ages 11-12
Players continue their development in the complete game of baseball. The diamond is extended to 70 feet and the pitching mound is 48 feet. There is a stricter enforcement of balks. Teams are formed by a draft. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division . Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played. There is an end of season tournament. Players may try out for the summer tournament team.
PonyAges
13-14
Players continue their development in the complete game of baseball. The diamond is extended to 80 feet and the pitching mound is 54 feet. Divisions are made up of similar caliber teams. The regular season includes games with teams from within the same division . Interlock games against teams from other leagues may also be played.
