Newcastle Baseball Club League Code of Conduct

The following Code of Conduct is for the benefit of everyone involved with each team and will help us reach our collective goals. Since it is impossible to cover every point or eventuality in a statement of team policy, all athletes, parents, managers, and coaches are to conduct themselves in a manner that will reflect positively upon the players, teams, managers, and coaches of the Newcastle Baseball Club League.

Player’s Commitment:

  • Arrive on time and attend all practices and games unless excused in advance by the coaching staff.
  • Arrive at the game or practice at the time requested by the Coaches.
  • Always put forth your best effort. Show enthusiasm on and off the field.
  • Listen and accept instruction.
  • Treat coaches, managers, teammates, umpires, and opposing teams with respect.
  • Use only positive supportive language. No taunting, swearing, or using obscene language or gestures will be tolerated.
  • Do not use tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs at any time. Violations will result in notification of the proper authorities.
  • Report all injuries, no matter how small, to your coach. Be honest about your injuries in regards to getting treatment.
  • Accept the playing time as it is assigned by your coaches. Remember each team member is an important piece of the success of the whole team and you should always be ready to contribute.
  • Accept the consequences of your choices and actions, and communicate any concerns to your coaching staff in a discussion outside of practice and game times.

Parents’ Commitment:

  • Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, managers, coaches, umpires, and opposing teams.
  • If program concerns do arise, discuss them with the coach first. If not resolved, it may be appropriate to address them to the NBCL board of directors.
  • Support a tobacco, alcohol, and drug-free environment by example at all baseball activities.
  • Support and honor the mission of the Newcastle Baseball Club League.

Coaches’ Commitment:

  • Communicate with players and parents, listen, and respond objectively in the best interest of the team.
  • Address player and parent concerns as needed.
  • Organize practices effectively and create a positive, safe practice environment.
  • Reward effort, attitude, and enthusiasm; be a positive role model for your players.
  • Clearly define standards and expectations for all players.
  • Support a tobacco, alcohol, and drug-free environment by example at all baseball activities.
  • Support and honor the mission of the Newcastle Baseball Club League.
